gail spilsbury

Bergamot founder Gail Spilsbury is author of Rock Creek Park and the forthcoming Washington Sketchbook: Drawings by R. L. Dickinson from 1917–18. During her ten years in Washington, D.C., she worked as a managing editor at the National Gallery of Art (2003–5) and as a senior editor at the Smithsonian Institution (1997–2003). Before that she lived in Italy, Guyana, and Poland, where she taught writing, edited foreign publications, and contributed articles to local weeklies. Her B.A. and M.A. are in history, and she studied creative writing under novelist John Gardner at the Binghamton writers program.
